SUMMARY:

 

The Police Material / Equipment Coordinator is responsible for the procurement, maintenance and availability of the NJ TRANSIT Police Department fleet, all equipment, inventories and all service records.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Responsible for the procurement, maintenance and availability of the NJ TRANSIT Police Department fleet, including marked police vehicles, mobile command and crime scene vehicles and the Mobile Operations Center. Coordinates and schedules a system of preventive maintenance for all police service vehicles.

  • Maintains records of all equipment serviced and is responsible for the central supply and equipment inventory of police equipment, including all department issued radios.

  • Maintains inventories of all equipment and materials issued, this includes ordering and dispensing materials to Commands and developing projections for future department equipment needs. Ensures that proper records are maintained.

  • Inspects all police department equipment for defects and ensures that all equipment and materials are on hand when needed and in good working order.

  • Responsible for reviewing E-Z pass account invoices for accuracy and maintains all fleet E-Z pass payments and records.

  • Monitors and maintains records of all Police Department P-card purchases and bills to ensure usage is within NJ TRANSIT policy. 

  • Assists in special and emergency operations including Orange Alert, New Year’s Eve, St. Patrick’s Day and other events to ensure the Police Department has the needed representation in emergency and Mobile Command Operations.

  • Performs other tasks that may be asked or directed by the Manager of Support Service.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

Associates Degree and three (3) years’ experience in fleet management and procurement of equipment and supplies required; procurment of Law Enforcement inventory is preferred. Must be proficient in NJ TRANSIT based application systems such as Word, Access, Excel and other PC based systems and programs. Excellent organizational and communication skills required. Knowledge of the procurement and accounts payable processes desired. CDL with airbrakes endorsement and automotive maintenance is desired. Must be able to pass a police background.

 

One year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.

 

Knowledge of maintenance of vehicles and understanding and knowledge of preparing bids and specs for purchase of equipment desired. 

Must be available to work when needed during but not limited to emergencies, weekends, nights, and holidays.

Some traveling may be needed.

 

May be required to perform lifting of boxes, heavy objects, emergency structed tents, and set up/ take down various Police equipment.

Job Summary - The Onboarding Specialist II is responsible for the full cycle on-boarding process for final selected candidates, and acts as the "Front End” Communication to all New Hires. The Onboarding Specialist II collects and analyzes background information from applications submitted by all potential new employees. This involves all aspects of the background check process including meeting compliance and quality assurance standards. Duties and Responsibilities

• Reviews and verifies receipt of all required documents from potential new hires such as employment applications, educational documents, references, resumes, disclosure and consent forms, certificates of disposition, licenses, certifications and PSV's related to background checks.

• Analyzes data from the submitted applications to ensure completion and accuracy prior to releasing to background screening company.

• Provides recommendations and advises Recruiters regarding falsification of records or disqualification of employment leading to rescinding offers. Communicates with Labor Department when necessary if legal issues arise. • Identifies and rectifies data for payroll reports to be generated and for new hires to be input into the system to receive paychecks and be notified of their benefit status and eligibility.

• Enters demographics and schedule EHS appointment for new employee physicals and drug screens.

• Updates records in the GEAC/Payroll System when required.

• Ensures candidate licensure/certifications are current and up-to-date. Determines legitimacy of documentation submitted by the candidate to ensure eligibility for employment.

• Communicates with Corporate Screening Investigators when background check reports are still pending, and makes inquiries regarding the reasons for delays and alerts.

• Follows up with Supervisor on pending references on behalf of prospective new hire.

• Conducts telephone reference verifications with "hard to reach” supervisors on a regular basis.

• Communicates with International Personnel Staff for verification of International Employees clearance status.

• Responds to Hiring Managers and Prospective New Hires with updates of employment status.

• Collaborates with Recruiters, Corporate Screening and internal team members to ensure quality assurance and compliance requirements are met. (JCAHO, CAPT, PSV)
